Broccoli Thoran / Broccoli and Coconut Stir Fry

Ingredients

  • Broccoli – 1 medium sized, sliced into small florets
  • Grated coconut – half cup
  • Onion – 1 small chopped
  • Green chilly – 2-3 slit
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tspn
  • Mustard seeds – half tspn
  • Dry red chillies – 2 nos
  • Urid dal – 1 tspn
  • Curry leaves –  a spring
  • Salt as required
  • Oil – 1 tblspn

Method

  • In a heavy bottomed pan, splutter mustard seeds, followed by dry red chillies and curry leaves. Now add chopped onion and green chillies. Saute until the onions turn transparent. Add turmeric powder
  • Add broccoli florets and salt. Mix well. Cover and cook for 2- 3 minutes. Sprinkle water if required.
  • Open the lid and stir fry until the water content has gone. Add grated coconut and mix well. Broccoli thoran is ready!
